Loki, thank you. Thank you for your forthrightness, for your gentle but insistent nudges for me to do what I should or must. Thank you for your inspiration, for your wisdom, for your input and help while I write. Thank you for your name popping up everywhere, including in letters three feet tall. Thank you for your kindness, your gentleness, and your humor. For your guidance, your help, your presence, I am in gratitude. Thank you for your faith in me. Thank you for your honesty and fieriness. Thank you for the feel of you, your directness, your energy, for flaming hair out of the corner of my eye. Thank you for your happiness and for your righteous rage. Thank you for your warmth and your happiness. Thank you for your sorrow. Thank you for your sense of fun. Thank you for impelling me to bravery and courage. Thank you for putting the right words in my head, when I am not sure what to type. Thank you for your loyalty, and for your reassurance. Thank you for your persistence and liminality. Thank you for your practicality and for your mischief. Thank you for your patience with me. Thank you for your words. Thank you for what you are known for and for what you are not known for. Thank you for your existence.
And though I feel so sympathetic for so much of it, and I wish that You had not had to experience so much pain (except that then You would not be who You Are), I am so grateful that You embody on a much greater scale, so much of what I am familiar with and experience in myself — grief, madness, and despair; kindness, compassion, love, and loyalty; explosive rage, helplessness, and a desire to watch it all burn; shifting gender and living in marginalized places; a fighting spirit and relentlessness; humor, passion, and creativity.
But most of all right now, thank you for caring about so many, so much, including at least one person who often cannot see why the Gods should feel anything towards them besides disdain.
These words are not pretty and graceful, but they are what I have now, and they are for You. Hail Loki, You are such a great God and I thank You for Who You are.
